It was a successful start to the KL Junior League 2016 Season 2 for our FC Kuala Lumpur and FCKL Bandar Utama teams. Competing in the Under-14 and Under-16 competitions on the season’s opening weekend, our sides picked up a total of nine points to go top of both division league tables.
FULL POINTS FOR 14s
First to kick off in this new KL Junior League season were the Under-14s, and the late introduction of an FCKL Bandar Utama U14 side meant FCKL was well represented. The Bandar Utama squad had a tough test ahead of them with their opponents, the Ombak FC girls side, expected to be strong and well organised.
Wearing their bright yellow training kit, though, FCKL Bandar Utama were more than up to the task taking a magnificent opening round victory 2–0. They now sit on 3 points ahead of a second round clash with the FC Kuala Lumpur Melawati team this Saturday, 27th August.
It was great news for the FCKL Melawati team as well in their opening match. Kicking off at 8am against Football Talent Asia, they were keen to get their campaign off to a strong start under Coach Dimitri. And that’s exactly what they managed to do, matching their sister club FCKL Bandar Utama in producing a 2–0 victory.
Filled with confidence, the boys will now look to build on their strong start and hope for a solid season in the KL Junior League to round out the year.
mixed feelings for 16s
It was an unusual outcome for the Under-16 players in the KL Junior League opening round. Drawn to face each other on the first Sunday, our FCKL and FCKL Bandar Utama teams were keen to test themselves early in the season. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be as the Melawati team were unable to field enough players to contest the match. A 3–0 walkover victory was gifted to FCKL Bandar Utama who now sit pretty at the top of the table.
Both teams play their second match of the league this Saturday, 27th August, with FC Kuala Lumpur facing Ombak FC and FCKL Bandar Utama taking on Football Talent Asia.
